Mom Milestones

We all celebrate the "firsts" of our children:  first smile, first steps, first words, etc.  But being a Mom comes with its own unique milestones, even if you are a mother of three.  For example, earlier this week (on the day my third child turned 5 weeks old to be exact) I spent my first full day alone with all three kids and we all survived!  No Grandma to the rescue, no Dad home early from work, no daycare, no friendly neighbors stopping over.  I am embarrassed to admit that this is even a milestone in my eyes especially since I would regularly babysit for 4 and 5 kids at a time when I was a teenager.  Why in the world is it so much scarier some 20 years later and when they are my own kids?!!!  To all the single mothers or mothers raising children far away from any support system, my hat is off to you!  I also had my 6 week postpartum check-up and because I got a clean bill of health I will be celebrating another milestone later this week...first sex after a vaginal delivery of a 10 pound child.  Wish me luck!
